Philadelphia Flyers

On Black Friday - November 26, 2010, the referees blew the game by disallowing a game winning goal, and calling an unsportsmanlike penalty that did not exist.  As usual, the fans in attendance were not happy with the call and let the refs know their feelings.  The one good thing that did come of this was a classic interview from Chris Pronger.

In addition to the video here, you will find links to more information about the game and Chris Pronger's reaction by Chuck Gormley of the Camden Courier Post.  He listed this "QUOTE TO NOTE" - “I’m not getting into a ‘he said, she said’ with the refs. And I’m the he.” – D Chris

The referee, Ghislain Hebert-in his first full year in the NHL, tried to equate this penalty to that of Sean Avery.

The NHL issued this new
interpretation of the Avery Rule, via director of hockey operations Colin Campbell: "An unsportsmanlike conduct minor penalty will be interpreted and applied, effective immediately, to a situation when an offensive player positions himself FACING the opposition goaltender and engages in actions such as waving his arms or stick in front of the goaltender's face, for the purpose of improperly interfering with and/or distracting the goaltender as opposed to positioning himself to try to make a play."
